Seems like embroidered tank tops are my birthday gift of choice for spring. First an Eiffel Tower for Renee. Now bowling pins for Dawn. Tank tops are my spring and summer staple, so add a little therapeutic embroidery and, in my opinion, you have a good gift, for both the giver and the receiver. Fun. Miss Dawn, of previous Weekender Bag fame, is celebrating her Birthday on Monday. We are lunching in celebration today as I will be taking a little extended weekend.
For the embroidery, I used a Sublime Stitching pattern I had on hand, Bowling Betties. Why bowling you ask? Well, Dawn is actually on a bowling team (and is pretty good I hear) and the design just seemed fun and retro. While embroidering, I wanted a good strong line, so I used all six strands of floss and kept it simple with a split stitch. I love a simple split stitch.
Oh, I am so excited for my long weekend. I am not going anywhere, but am going to enjoy a little extra project time at home. Yard work, spring cleaning and hopefully some crafting are on my list. But what I am looking forward to most is no alarm clock. I may end up getting up at the same time, but it will be my decision.
If I am not back before then, Happy Easter!!
Hey Colleen -- do you stablize these in any way before embroidering? I tried doing this recently and my results were less than stellar. Do you embroider through paper?

I’d just like to say I’ve been looking at your blog for a while now and wanted to let you knopw how much I like it. It’s even got me to start up my own:

That is very cool. I wear tank tops all summer long, I just might have to embroider some of mine!
